Getting This Blog Started Took Faith and Motivation
When I was first inspired to create a blog there were so many thoughts running through my mind like, 'you know you don't have time for this' and 'who is going to read it'. I finally decided enough was enough! I was going to start what I set out to do and we all know we make time for the things that are truly important to us.
How many times have thoughts, ideas, and visions come to you and you just simply shrug them off? How many million dollar ideas have you come up with only to have someone else act on them first? How many times have you said, I am going to spend more time with my family and never get around to it? How many of your children are now grown and no longer live with you? We all get bogged down with this thing called 'life' and as one things leads to another we just can't seem to get everything done.
I once heard a speaker say, "we all are given 24 hours each day, what are you doing with your 24 hours?" This resonated with me because I am a numbers person. I made a decision to make a list each week with 3 things I wanted to accomplish, ( I only had faith for 3 things at that time because it always seemed like time just flew by.) and see if I could get them done. Guest what, as I made a plan (write the vision and make it plain) things were just being checked off every week. I learned that I did have enough time to accomplish the things that were important to me and I still do. I just needed to strengthen my time management skills. I will share a few tips with you on how to make the most of your day and how to set and accomplish goals
How to Get the Most Out of Your Day:
1. The night before write down the things that must be accomplished before tomorrow comes. ( Be realistic)
2. Carve out time to complete the tasks. This includes family time, pet time, and cooking if you do that.
3. Check off each goal that was completed. If you don't finish them all today, tomorrow you will need to finish them before you move on to other items.
How to Set and Accomplish Goals:
1. Get a notebook and write down what you want to accomplish. Let's call this brainstorming as nothing is off limits at this point. Jot down as many thought and ideas as you want.
2. Look at your list and pick the top 3 things you really want to accomplish. This is just to get started, once you accomplish these things you can move on to other items on your list. My rule of thumb is pick one short-term goal something that can be accomplished in less than a month. Then get a mid-term goal, something that can be accomplished within 3-4 months. Lastly, a long-term goal, something that might take longer than a year but no more than 5-6 years.
At this rate you should be checking off goals at a rate of 12-16 times per year.
3.Once you make a decision, tell someone about it you are more likely to follow through. I did a post on Facebook and said, I will have my site up by Saturday, April 25, 2020. It only gave me one week to do it, but really I only needed a few hours. Having someone to keep you accountable is critical to success.
4.If family is your priority then you should be making sure you spend quality time with them. I know many of us are quarantined, but you could pick a specific day and time to have an uninterrupted amount of time on the phone, you could use an app to video chat, the methods are endless.
5. The same goes for your faith, if it is important to you, you should set aside time to learn, meditate,
and give thanks for all the good you have in your life.
6. If you want to lose weight, you should eat right, exercise, drink plenty of water, and get enough sleep.
Things I have accomplished this week include: Painting a canvas picture, which I hope to have uploaded on my site, singing songs on Smule, and getting this Blog started and hopefully inspiring you.
I pray that you beat the fear that keeps you from trying something new. I hope you found my first blog to be insightful, encouraging, and helpful. I pray that you walk in love, joy and peace during these uncertain times.
