A Different Point of View

This week I reflected on what it means to be with family. Family can include anyone you care about, and it does not have to be limited to a blood-related person.  Time is valuable, and some would say it is worth more than money. During this pandemic, some people are finding themselves with free time, while others are busier than ever. How are you spending your time?

I was asked to provide my Bio, which is a statement that describes you, your accomplishments, and anything else you want someone to know about you. Thinking about Bio's lead me to think, what could someone say about me? How would my family or friends describe me?  You could ask yourself the same questions, and would the people you love respond the way you think they would? How do you want to be remembered? Are the things your doing today helping others see you the way you want to be seen?

I have spent more quality time with my family, and I love it! I have learned through many trials and tribulations that things are not necessary, but people are.  At one point in my life, I used to be a loaner. When I moved on, I left friends and family behind. I always like the idea of 'starting fresh.' Later in life, I experienced a friendship that the thought of losing it was so sad, it was like a death, and it was then I realized that how important life is and the people we have around us. To this day, I am a better version of myself because of the people I have in my life.

I shared a part of my story to say, it is never too late to change, to see the value in spending quality time with the people you love. Today, I have a fantastic relationship with my husband, kids, family, and friends. Do I still have some work to do? Yes, and I am willing to let the past go to move forward. The other day my family and I were doing some yard work, and I took a moment to take it all in and was grateful. I was grateful because we all have come a long way and enjoy spending time together.

I encourage you to evaluate your life, create a bio, and see what it is that you will write. If your family members or significant others had to write your Bio for you, would you both say the same things? If not, what things do you need to consider changing? Make lasting memories that include the people who matter most to you because life is short. We know we all have jobs and may other priorities, but we should be sure our actions line up with the words we speak.

Tomorrow is Mother's Day, so happy Mother's day to anyone who helps take care of any child or children, and I hope you get a chance to spend time with the people you love.
